Typeform, the Barcelona-based platform behind the conversational forms used by 150,000 businesses, launched Research Flow on June 9. The tool lets teams design studies, recruit participants, and conduct AI-moderated interviews at scale. What normally takes weeks can now be completed in hours. The new product extends Typeform's shift from a form builder into an AI-powered engagement platform.

Research Flow targets a persistent problem in market research: the choice between speed and depth. Teams can run quick surveys that capture broad feedback, or commission traditional qualitative research that delivers rich insight but requires money and time. Typeform said the new platform solves this by combining survey reach with the conversational richness of one-on-one interviews, all within a single tool.

The process breaks into stages. Teams start by defining research objectives and discussion guides with AI assistance, then recruit participants from verified global panels or their own customer lists. Next comes the interview phase. The system conducts AI-moderated conversations through written, audio, and video formats, reaching hundreds of respondents in parallel. Once fieldwork completes, the platform handles analysis: automatic transcription, theme extraction, sentiment scoring, and generation of video highlight reels and reports.

In early testing, Typeform reported participants provided 4.5 times more feedback per question and generated three times more emotional and contextual insights compared to traditional survey respondents. They also spent twice as long engaging with studies.

From Forms to Research Intelligence

The launch represents the second major product from Typeform's recent AI expansion. The company released Growth Flow in May 2026. That product automates customer lifecycle workflows: it captures leads, enriches data, triggers follow-ups, and measures conversion. Research Flow takes a different angle. Instead of automating what happens after a form response, it helps teams understand their audiences before they act.

This two-product strategy suggests Typeform is positioning itself as a complete customer intelligence platform. Growth Flow turns every form submission into an automated action. Research Flow helps teams validate what questions to ask and what messages will resonate.

Aleks Bass, Typeform's Chief Product and Technology Officer, framed it as democratizing research. "Every business wants deeper insights, but traditional research has been too slow, too expensive, and too operationally heavy for most teams to run as often as they need," he said. "We're giving small and growing teams the ability to operate with the research intelligence of a much larger organization, without the headcount, the agency fees, or the six-week wait."

Market Research Meets AI Automation

Typeform launched Research Flow as AI-powered market research tools proliferate. The company is not inventing AI-moderated interviews. Competitors exist. The distinction lies in where it sits in the product mix. Typeform customers already collect 48 million responses monthly through its core platform. Research Flow lets them upgrade those data-gathering capabilities without leaving the ecosystem.

Predrag Topić, co-founder at pokretach, a research agency using the product, said his team can now run studies at a pace impossible with traditional staffing. "We can capture the depth of a one-on-one conversation at a scale we could never staff manually, and turn that into recommendations with real business value," he said.

For startups and early-stage companies, the appeal is practical. Product teams can test messaging or pricing hypotheses with recruited participants. Marketing teams can understand why prospects hesitate before converting. Customer success teams can explore churn reasons without hiring a research consultant. The speed and cost profile favour teams running research in sprints rather than as annual exercises.

Who This Serves

Typeform positioned Research Flow for customer, market, and opinion research. The typical user needs to know whether a product concept resonates with customers, what price point customers will accept, or why customers switch to competitors. Traditionally, answering these questions required commissioning a research agency. Research Flow lets teams get answers in-house, quickly and at moderate cost.

This target aligns with Typeform's core market: small and growing teams. The company has built its reputation on making data collection tools designed for non-specialists. Conversational forms feel friendlier than traditional surveys. Research Flow extends that philosophy to research design and moderation.

The 250-person company raised €135 million in a Series C funding round in March 2022 and has not announced new financing since then. Research Flow and Growth Flow represent product-led expansion rather than venture-backed growth spree. Both products rely on AI automation to compress timelines and reduce the operational overhead that made market research and customer engagement expensive.

For Typeform's established customer base, Research Flow offers an upsell opportunity within a product they already trust. For research agencies and consultancies, it presents a different threat: automation that shifts some of their work to clients. For early-stage European companies seeking fast answers about their markets, it offers a tool that shortens the feedback loop between question and insight.
