Sobre Monzo
Monzo is a London-based digital bank founded in 2015 and licensed as a UK bank in 2016. Its app offers current accounts (personal, joint, under-16s, business), savings Pots, credit cards, investments, pensions and mortgage tools. The company says it serves more than 16 million customers with a team of over 2,000. In 2026 it bought mortgage broker Habito and, after receiving an EU banking licence, launched in Ireland and Spain. Diana Layfield became Group CEO in 2026.

Monzo hands the top job to ex-Google and Standard Chartered executive Diana Layfield as TS Anil steps aside
Monzo has named Diana Layfield, who spent nine years at Google and ran Standard Chartered in Africa, as Group CEO. TS Anil, who led the bank for over five years, moves to an advisory role as listing talk grows.
Monzo picks Spain as its second EU market, with 50 staff in Madrid and Barcelona and an ex-N26 country head
Three weeks after going live in Ireland, Monzo is preparing a Spanish launch. It has more than 50 people across two offices and has hired Francisco Sierra, formerly of N26 and Western Union, to run the country.
Monzo closes Habito deal, its first acquisition, to put full mortgage broking inside its app
Monzo now owns Habito, the digital mortgage broker with about 100 staff. The deal, agreed in December for an undisclosed sum, lets the UK bank offer mortgage advice from search to completion inside its app.
Monzo opens in Ireland, its first EU market, with 100,000 on the waitlist but no loans or cards yet
The UK digital bank went live in Ireland on 14 April with free current and savings accounts for people and businesses. Credit products are not part of the first Irish offer.
