Sofia Marques spent eight years balancing the grid for a regional utility in the Alentejo, where two people did by spreadsheet what large suppliers do with a trading floor. In 2024 she and Duarte Lobo started Verde Systems to close that gap. Their software forecasts solar output, schedules batteries and bids into the market every fifteen minutes. Twenty-three utilities in Portugal and Spain now run on it, and a €7M seed takes it to Italy next.
