About Aptadir Therapeutics

Aptadir Therapeutics is a Milan-based preclinical biotech developing RNA medicines that reprogram DNA methylation. Its platform builds on research by co-founder Annalisa Di Ruscio showing that specific RNAs bind and inhibit the enzyme DNMT1. Using DNMT-interacting RNAs (DiRs), it aims to reactivate silenced genes either globally or at a chosen gene locus. Launched in 2024 as the first company created by Italy's EXTEND tech-transfer hub, it targets genetic diseases such as Fragile X syndrome and hard-to-treat cancers.
